SPEAKING TOPICS:

Estate Planning Fails:

A fun and interesting review of famous people who died with inadequate estate planning. Beneath the glam is the reality that the same problems that face the rich and famous face everyone. The examples used show how failing to properly plan your estate can cause strife between your family members, deny money to persons that you love (such as a boyfriend or girlfriend or your spouse), and destroy the business that you worked so hard to build. This talk is a great because it is entertaining and educational and allows the audience to see they are not alone in having inadequate estate plans.

Estate Planning for Small Business Owners:

When you own your own business, you are constantly making plans: for growth, for attracting clients and for building your brand. But do you have a plan for how your business will survive if you aren’t there to do the work? Business owners face unique estate planning challenges as they consider how both their families and their businesses can be protected after death. Ms. Martin will discuss how business owners can protect their hard work and investment and ensure that their business survives incapacity or death, as well as what red flags they should be looking for when planning for business succession.

How to Create your Health Care Directives:

This self-help talk teaches the audience how to prepare their own Health Care Directive so that if the individual ever becomes unable to make decisions for his or herself, a designated agent will be identified to make decisions for the individual. A health care directive is more than just appointing someone to make decisions for you. It is also your way of helping your agent know what kind of health care treatments you are comfortable with and how you would like your agent to act in certain situations. This talk empowers the audience by showing them how to make an advanced health care directive on their own. The audience also learns that estate planning is so much more than just passing property upon your death.
