Integrative Medicine for Eating Disorders, Addictions, Obesity and Mental Health

Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross is an internationally known author, speaker, expert and pioneer in the use of Integrative Medicine for the treatment of Eating Disorders, Obesity and Addictions.  She is a graduate of Andrew Weil’s Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine. She is the former head of the eating disorder program at internationally renowned Sierra Tucson. Dr. Ross is a consultant for treatment centers around the US. She is the author of three books including one of the first books on Binge Eating Disorder: The Binge Eating and Compulsive Overeating Workbook and her recent book, The Emotional Eating Workbook. Dr. Ross currently has a private practice in Denver and San Diego specializing in Integrative Medicine for treating eating disorders, addictions, mood and anxiety disorders and obesity.





Help! I’m Addicted to Food.  How to Determine if you or Someone you Care About is a Food Addict
This talk will explore the causes of food addiction and will also address how food has changed in ways that may make it more likely to promote addictive behaviors.  The workshop will address food cravings and their relationship to food addiction and will discuss the overlap of characteristics between food addiction and other eating disorders.

Healing the Brain, Body and Spirit in Addictions and Eating Disorders
Eating disorders (ED) and substance use disorders (SUD) co-occur in many individuals.  This talk will help you understand the causes of both and why you or someone you care about is struggling with these disorders.  Dr. Ross will offer a specific integrative approach to heal brain, body and spirit.

The Healing Power of Integrative Medicine for Food and Body Image Issues
This talk gives information about the use of alternative therapies, supplements and mindfulness in healing food and body image issues.  If you find yourself obsessing about food or are constantly dieting to lose weight only to regain what you’ve lost or more this talk will help you learn specific tests and therapies that can help you learn to control cravings and change your relationship with food and your body.

Addictions: The Opiate Epidemic and More
The public is more aware than ever about the prevalence of substance use disorders, particularly opiate / heroin addiction.  This talk will give an overview of how addictions are diagnosed and treated with emphasis on what is new in the field to help those suffering with addictions.

How do you Know if You’re an Emotional Eater and What You can do About it?
Emotional eating is a behavior experienced by women and men alike and can be a cause of distress, weight gain and lead to other health problems.  This talk will help you identify the reasons why we eat when stressed, happy or sad and teach specific techniques for dealing with emotional eating.
